About SS-31
SS-31 (also known as Elamipretide, MTP-131, or Bendavia) is a cell-permeable, mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide with the sequence D-Arg-2′6′-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH₂. It selectively accumulates in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it interacts with cardiolipin to stabilise mitochondrial cristae structure and improve electron transport chain efficiency.
